This pattern design was completed in 2020 as a student project while I attended the Make it in Design Summer School. The assignment brief requirements included designing a sculptural, geometric pattern with curved forms and shapes. The challenge also required keeping the simplicity of mid-century style and design with a simple pattern.
For this project, I painted various shapes and colors onto watercolor paper. Then, the watercolor shapes were scanned in at a high-resolution and brought into Adobe Photoshop. After turning them into transparent clip art shape forms, I arranged them together to make the floral pieces for the final pattern design.
This design was featured on the Make it in Design blog as a top pick from Porter & Brawn.
This pattern design and mock-ups were created in Adobe Photoshop.
